After graduating from my Bachelor studies in “Chemical Engineering” at Offenburg University of Applied Sciences, I was looking for an international Master’s program with a main focus on environmental technology. Thus, for me, it was a logical decision to choose the Master of Process Engineering (MPE) program.

Rather than the technical details, I would like to talk about the support provided by the University’s International Center staff. So, if this is going to be your first time studying abroad, don’t be scared. The International Center provides outstanding supervision to help you settle into a new environment smoothly. From finding a room, getting picked up from the railway station, to receiving help with your visa extensions, etc., for all these things you will get help. Additionally, the International Center offers various intercultural activities during the semester which give you the opportunity to learn about German and other cultures, the German people, and of course, to have fun in your spare time besides the hard studying.

I can only recommend to you to join one of the Master’s degree programs. You will get not only a degree “made in Germany”, but also an amazing time and experience in Germany.

My experience during the MPE program was really awesome. Starting my life in Germany this way turned out to be a very nice decision. The subjects were very interesting and varied. Education in Germany is different from my country, and that posed a challenge for me. For example, there is just one final exam and the time allowed is shorter. This challenged us to be more to the point, however, and to prepare efficiently. The program offers a great variety of topics, like environmental protection, renewable energy, process engineering, each with a practical and a theoretical component. The teaching style is dynamic and interactive. The experience of living in Germany and Poland was also part of the knowledge gain we got to know different people, improved our teamwork skills and had a lot of fun together. Now I feel prepared to work in Germany and continue my learning process.

Being accepted from hundreds of applications for the MPE program provided me with an opportunity that I will never forget. Compared to other programs, MPE is more like a big family, where you study and learn together in English in the center of Europe, or Germany to be more precise. In this course, you not only go deep into technical subjects such as thermochemical, chemical engineering or renewable energies, but you are also exposed to non-technical topics such as ethics, intercultural aspects and public relations.

The MPE program is also where I made new friends from around the world, such as Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Spain, Poland and many more! I have not just improved my English proficiency, but I even had the opportunity to learn Polish, Spanish and of course German. There are no boundaries when you are part of the MPE family. The different backgrounds are what makes this course special. I had a chance to tell about my own country and culture as well as learn more about other countries.

As Offenburg University collaborates with the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn for the MPE course, I got a chance to study and live in Olsztyn for one semester. During our semester there, we learned more about environmental aspects such as wastewater treatment, genetic engineering and toxicology. Being the only Malaysian on the whole Olsztyn campus did not give me a hard time to adapt with the new environment, as my colleagues and professors were always there to help me with my studies as well as help me ‘survive’ with only little knowledge of Polish. Dziękuję bardzo!

There are so many things that I would like to share about my time as an MPE student, but all I can say is that I really treasure each moment and that, given the chance, I would do it all over again.

MPE is a great program when you want to open a new door in your life. When I was in the last year of my chemical engineering (B.Sc.) degree, I started to look into Master’s programs in Germany, because I had studied at KIT as an Erasmus student in 2010-11. Following that awesome year, I was sure that I wanted to do my Master’s in Germany, because I like the German lifestyle and university life, and the idea of living in another country for a while was also very interesting for me. I found this program advertised on the DAAD’s website and thought immediately that it was the perfect option for me. You can study in English while living in Germany. It also provides a great chance to meet with other cultures and people from all over the world, and to do an exchange in Poland in addition. I can really say that I am very proud to be a graduate of this program. The staff at the International Center of the University became like a second family to me. When I left, I had two good Master’s degree certificates, 1000s of pictures, lots of funny memories and lots of good friends. As for academics, I wrote my thesis at a big automobile company and after I graduated I found a good job; currently I am working as a process development engineer at an international company. In conclusion, I would like to say that you should not miss the chance to apply and come to Offenburg. For sure, you will be very happy in this small town and have the best experiences with Offenburg’s MPE program.

"After some years working in the Oil and Gas industry in Brazil I decided to change the course of my career and look for qualification in the area of renewable energy. Among all suitable courses I chose the program Master of Process Engineering (MPE) at Offenburg University.
The study program comprised exactly what I was looking for: a major focus on biofuel technologies. Nevertheless, the MPE program is not limited to biofuels. It also offers a strong background in biotechnology and other important subjects essential for process engineers, such as process control, safety and environmental engineering.
The MPE teaching team is not only highly qualified but also always accessible to the students. The administrative staff is very helpful to the students. They organize several outdoor and cultural activities during the semester promoting the integration of the foreign students to the German way of life.
I feel very proud for being accepted and having completed the MPE program at Hochschule Offenburg. I am pretty sure that the course was crucial to help me find my current job position as a process engineer in an engineering company in Germany.
For all these reasons I would strongly recommend the MPE program to any student looking for a high level Master’s degree course in the area of process engineering."

The joint international Master’s study program MPE is definitely an excellent opportunity for all of those who want to gain on international and valuable experience, as well as to meet students from all around the world and to have a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.  One of the biggest advantages are the two academic degrees you can get when graduating from the Offenburg University and from the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. During my studies I met a lot of great people, improved my soft skills and got to know the unique German culture. Thanks to that I have found a satisfying job in a big international-oriented company. If I had an opportunity to choose my studies once again, I would choose MPE!

I appreciate the opportunity to be a graduate of the Master’s program “Process Engineering” at the Offenburg University. During my studies I have not only gained advanced knowledge in chemical and thermal process engineering and biotechnology, but also gathered unforgettable experience living abroad, getting to know wonderful people and exchanging knowledge with other international students. I have never had doubt about my decision for the MPE program in Offenburg. It was a great opportunity to learn from the highly qualified professors and to have practical trainings in the university’s laboratories provided with modern equipment. I want to thank the University of Applied Sciences and the International Center especially for the organization of student’s leisure time. I really enjoyed being a part of that whole world named MPE!

Doing the MPE was a truly memorable experience. After finishing a bachelor degree in Biotechnology Engineering, I joined the MPE program in Offenburg. This was my first international experience, but I never had a hard time because the staff was always super friendly and willing to help with anything you needed.
During the master studies I learned a lot from many subjects and reinforced knowledge for other subjects I had already taken back in Mexico. Something surely distinct of the MPE program is the cooperation in Olsztyn, Poland. I had the chance to meet a lot of interesting people, compare and profit from varying teaching styles, and get embedded in two different cultures. Doing my master thesis internship in a company helped me a lot for future job prospects; it is quite useful if you are looking forward either for a job in industry or a PhD afterwards. For me it was very important since in Mexico you hardly get a chance to gain working experience before you finish your studies.
And of course not everything is hard work! The tranquility and beautiful landscape of the Dark Forest are hard to match and there are several leisure activities to do all year long and places to visit in Germany, France, and Switzerland.

After finishing my Bachelor of Process Engineering and Biotechnology, I decided to get involved in the program of Master of Process Engineering (MPE) of the Universities in Offenburg (D) and Olsztyn (PL). I never regretted my decision due to a highly valuable education in technical and scientific skills as well as in soft skills like management and environmental protection. Moreover, I had the great opportunity to become familiar with different cultures and mentalities, especially with Poland. Even between Germany and Poland are considerable differences which bear disadvantages and advantages besides the studies. In the end I decided to realise my master thesis in Olsztyn because our polish neighbour has still uncountable mysteries to reveal. Eastern Europe becomes more and more important on a political and ecological level so that engineers, understanding the polish language and the mentality of its inhabitants, harbour promising abilities for the future.

After I have graduated the Master of Process Engineering (MPE) program at University of Applied Sciences Offenburg, I can say that it is the right choice for me. I have gained a lot of theoretical and practical knowledge which I am sure that it will support my future career and further study. Not only academic knowledge, but I also learned various cultures from other international students which it is not easy to find in other Universities. In the second semester, this program is the part of ERASMUS program and I had a good opportunity to study at University of Warmia and Masury, Poland which was such a good experience to see another side, and culture in Europe. The environment of both Universities is really comfortable to study and live. Besides, it was a good chance for me to learn German with native speakers during studying.  The part that I like most of this program is that it is flexible for students to do their thesis outside University. Particularly, in Germany, many companies and institutes give a chance for students to do a thesis with them which is a huge opportunity for students to get a job in the future.

International schools, exchange programs, forums and etc. were always part of my life, since I was a child. As I started studying chemical engineering in my country, I was torn apart from my international life style. I had to make a sacrifice to pursue my passion to be an engineer. After receiving my Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, I have applied several master programs in Germany, and I have chosen Master Program of Process Engineering (MPE) in Offenburg University of Applied Sciences. I made the right decision because MPE gave me the chance to combine my engineering passion with an international environment.

Program gives the option to improve students’ technical skills and soft skills. The students are given chance to determine their own studying modules, in which engineering, scientific and social lectures are combined together. This combination enables different career options in different departments such as Research and Development, Manufacturing, Engineering and etc.  International students with different engineering backgrounds and two different semesters in two different countries give the graduates of MPE a unique experience in international environment. This experience leads to distinctive career path for the future at highly valued companies, taking the globalization in consideration.

I am a proud graduate of MPE. I believe that MPE played an important role in my career. Currently I work in an international company as an engineer in Germany.

The Master program of Process Engineering (MPE) is very valuable to me. I really have chance to gain the knowledge in not only engineering fields as process control, chemical engineering, liquid mixing… but also scientific parts as genetic engineering, biotechnology method in environmental protection, laboratory skills… Besides, I could also register for other elective courses which focus on business, PR as well as management skills, which, with technical modules, can enhance my knowledge comprehensively. All the professor and lecturer are also always enthusiastic about helping me if I have problems. Moreover, one abroad semester in University of Warmia and Masury in Poland is a golden chance to experience new culture as well as new academic methods, which I can hardly find in other master programs. I find it very meaningful because I could have opportunity in a wide range of careers after this course.

Offenburg is a city located in the Baden Wurtemburg state with around 62000 inhabitants. The city is rich in culture and the local people are very cordial with foreign students. The Offenburg University has great reputation in and around Germany and it offers a good atmosphere for students to study and live. The reason why I choose Masters in process engineering is because of my bachelor knowledge in Biotechnology and my interest was towards bio- processing. Offenburg University offers MPE students to choose two streams one in Energy conversion and other is Fermentation technology. I choose the later because I felt that was more suitable for my career .Interesting fact about our course is that all students are given a chance to study in University of Warmia and Mazury and Olsztyn where we gain a lot of practical knowledge and theoretical knowledge in Environmental aspects of Biotechnology as a part of ERASMUS student exchange program .I would like to thank Prof.Torsten Schneider for selecting me for this program and I have not only learnt studying , but it has made me be part of an environment with various cultural backgrounds , so I thank god and my parents for supporting me and also all my friends and professors for guiding me.

I took part in the MPE study program as a member of the second exchange group from Poland.  Since my graduation in 2011, for the past year and a half I have been working in the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Karlsruhe, Germany) as a Process Engineer in a high temperature and high pressure gas cleaning process. The subject of my work is closely related to the practical and theoretical knowledge gained during three semesters of MPE.  As a graduate I can say the general advantage of this study program is that Process Engineers with international experiences can find jobs in almost all fields of research, development and industry. I will provide one important suggestion, which is that it is advantageous to learn German during your studies. This will simplify and quicken the job search process when seeking employment in Germany. If I had not decided to take part in this International study program, I would never be experiencing the adventure of my life and most likely would not have found my current position. As such, my conclusion is that the MPE program is very much worth the effort.
