Successful start of the student exchange program with Auburn University in Alabama!

Sandra Dieterle and Julia Schmidt, both students from the Faculty of Mechanical and Process Engineering at Offenburg University, have just returned from a semester abroad at Auburn University in Alabama in the United States and will continue their studies in Offenburg.

The two were the first Offenburg exchange students to spend a semester free of charge at one of the new partner universities. The semesters abroad are an important part of the cooperation agreements newly concluded last year with five universities in Alabama and are aimed at the Bachelor programs of the Mechanical and Process Engineering Faculty.

Daily life in a classic "college town" in the southern states, typical US campus life, football games of the Auburn Tigers: enriched and inspired by many new experiences, both students are happy to have taken the chance to spend a semester in the USA.

"At the beginning of the summer semester, we can welcome three exchange students from Auburn to our university for the first time," says Birgit Teubner-Jatzlau, Head of the International Office of the Offenburg University. The three US-Americans study mechanical engineering with us and listen to specially coordinated lectures in English, which are of course also open to all other exchange students and their German fellow students."We hope that at the end of the semester they will return home with the best experiences from our university, Baden-Württemberg, Germany and Europe," said Teubner-Jatzlau.

The exchange program with the universities in Alabama is to be strengthened and expanded in the future so that Bachelor students from the faculty of Mechanical and Process Engineering in particular will increasingly have the opportunity to study one semester in the U.S..

All exchange programs with partner universities worldwide are managed by the International Office, further information is available on the website of the IO and in personal consultation.
